Reading Psalm 116: 1-8 (The Message; a paraphrase)

1-6 I love God because God listened to me, listened as I begged for mercy.

God listened so intently as I laid out my case before God.

Death stared me in the face, hell was hard on my heels.

Up against it, I didn't know which way to turn;

then I called out to God for help:

"Please, God!" I cried out. "Save my life!"

God is gracious—it is God who makes things right,

our most compassionate God.

God takes the side of the helpless;

when I was at the end of my rope, God saved me.

7-8 I said to myself, "Relax and rest.

God has showered you with blessings.

Soul, you've been rescued from death;

Eye, you've been rescued from tears;

And you, Foot, were kept from stumbling."

Scripture Reading Ephesians 1: 15-23

I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, and for this reason I do not cease to give thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers. I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the God of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him, so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which you have been called, what are the riches of God’s glorious inheritance among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of God’s power for us who believe, according to the working of God’s great power. God put this power to work in Christ when God raised Christ from the dead and seated Christ at God’s side in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the age to come. And God has put all things under Christ’s feet and has made Christ the head over all things for the church, which is Christ’s body, the fullness of the one who fills all in all.

Prayers Of The People

Let us now offer our prayers of praise and petition to God. Please end your prayer with, “O Loving God,” and the community will respond, “Hear our prayers.”

Charge Ephesians 4:31- 5:2

Put away from you all bitterness and wrath and anger and wrangling and slander, together with all malice, and be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you. Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God

*Benediction
