Rev. Love Tells Us Her Side of The Story

Morning Worship

San Francisco Theological Seminary

Friday February 23rd, 2007

Montgomery Chapel

Welcome

*Call to Worship

Listen O’ Israel, today God asks us to remember our covenant,

the covenant we made with God.

Listen O’ God, we cry out to you remembering

the covenant that you made with us.

Listen O’ Israel, God has heard your call and is waiting for your answer.

God waits as one waits for the prodigal child.

Listen O’ God, thank you for waiting.

Thank you for waiting for us. Let us worship you now.

*Hymn PH 422 God, Whose Giving Knows No Ending

Call to Confession

Prayer of Confession

Gracious and Holy One,

We come full of much that clutters and distracts us. Sometimes the events of our days stifle us, burden our hearts. Other times we are paralyzed by a gnawing dissatisfaction, or anxious imaginings. Then there are times when we are driven to settle old scores, or we are deceived by the arrogance of being right. So many different ways to lose our way! Forgive us, kind one. Empty us of that which is not of you, so that we may can receive that which you hold out for us.

Assurance of Pardon

To all who turn from sin in sorrow, to all who turn to God in hope, this is God’s Word of grace; We are accepted, we are forgiven, we are loved. This gift we have from God.

Thanks be to God.

Invitation To The Lord’s Table

The Great Prayer Of Thanksgiving

The Lord be with you

And also with you.

Lift up your hearts

We lift them up unto the Lord

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God

It is right to give God thanks and praise

Great and wonderful are your deeds, O God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, O Ruler of the ages. We give you thanks, for you have created all things, and by your will they exist. You have delivered your people from bondage, and you have given to us Jesus Christ, Lamb of God, Savior of the world, who has won for us the victory over sin and death and all evil. Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with the heavenly choirs and with all the faithful of every time and place, who forever sing to the glory of your name:

Glory to you, O Christ, for you departed from your heavenly throne to tabernacle among us, showing us what it is to be truly human. You healed the sick and ate with the outcasts. You multiplied the fish and the loaves and you taught about God’s coming reign. You were slain, and by your blood you ransomed for God people of every tribe, tongue, people and nation. You have made us a people to serve our God. Great is the mystery of faith:

Spirit of God, touch our lives deeply, and make us truly yours; and bless these gifts of bread and the fruit of the vine. O living Christ, bright morning star of this darkened world, come and be our guest. Name us, mark us, and claim us as your own. Free us from bondage to the powers of this world. Glory be to you!

Now let us pray in song, the prayer that Jesus taught us:
