Prayer of Confession
Merciful and welcoming God, we confess that we come to you with the anxieties and nervousness of life. We confess our feelings of loneliness as we travel from places far and wide, leaving behind family and friends. We confess that we are wearied and fatigued by the comings and goings in our life. And we confess that we are confused about our direction in life.
(We confess that we are kept from knowing our new friends and neighbors fully due to the language barrier we experience. We confess that we are bewildered by the newness of and differences between our cultures. We confess that we are fearful of the new world that you have set before us.)
Holy God, who redeems all humanity through Jesus Christ, we confess the need for your vision to see through our fears and your support to overcome the mixture of feelings that swirl inside of us. Help us to see the new life you set before us; to embrace the new community being formed by your Spirit; to hear your still small voice, above every other voice, and to be ever mindful of your presence in this time and place. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon
The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. May the God of mercy, who forgives all our sins, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life.
*Passing of the Peace
Since Christ has forgiven us, let us forgive one another. The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
And also with you.
