Hi!
My name is Kitty Lum and I'd like to extend a very warm "welcome" to all of the new students and a big "welcome back" to all of my classmates/friends! I hope & pray that all of the new students are beginning to settle in & feel more comfortable.
I'm a MDiv senior & also a Chaplain's Assistant at the seminary this year. There are 4 Chaplain's Assistants & we work with the Seminary Chaplain, Charles Marks and the Church Music/Worship Professor, Dan Hoggatt to help design the worship services here at SFTS. We make up the Worship & Ministry Team and we also are here to provide pastoral care for students. So if you ever have any questions or just would like to talk, please feel free to call me. If I can't answer your question or assist you, I'll direct you to someone who can. We have 4 worship services every week at SFTS; MON & THUR at Stewart Chapel and TUE & FRI at Montgomery Chapel, from 10:15 to 10:45 AM. The Worship Team this year is really excited about bringing you inspiring & meaningful worship, so PLEASE join us as much as possible. But don't do it for us - do it for God! As my colleague, Aric said, it's not about us, but all about Jesus/God. Worship is so important, because it is like our life-line to God, helping us get in tune with God's agenda for us and focus on God, rather than the world or ourselves. It will be a great way to "re-charge your batteries" when the academics start getting draining!
I am a very talkative person, but I'm also a good listener. I hope to be an associate or youth pastor when I get finished here. I've really enjoyed my experience here, discovering the gifts that God has graced me with to serve God & others. Some of my favorite classes here have been Preaching, biblical studies, biblical languages, and theology. But the highlight of all my experiences has been the SFTS choir or Seminary Singers. Singing with the choir has been so much fun, relaxing and a great ministry, too! The choir meets every MON night from 5:15-6:45 PM at Stewart Chapel. We get to sing all kinds of great songs & listen to Dan's jokes the whole time! Please come join us if you can.
In my free time, I love to do Taequando (but I'm just a beginner), take walks in the hills behind the seminary, travel, draw, write and go to music/drama events.
I pray that God will greatly bless each one of you new students, as you embark on one the most exciting, interesting journeys that you'll ever have! I hope to get know each of you.
much blessings,
Kitty Lum :)
