Service of Word and Sacrament
Colossians
Welcome
*Call To Worship
What shall we return to the Lord
for all the good things God has done for us?
We will lift up the cup of salvation
and call on the name of the Lord.
*Hymn “Break Now the Bread of Life” VU 501
Call to Confession
If we say we that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. Together let us confess our sins before God and one another.
(1 John 1:8-10)
Prayer of Confession
Merciful God, we confess that we often deceive ourselves, that we often see the sin in others before we see it in our own hearts. Help us in our weakness and confusion to open ourselves to you to be cleansed of our mistrust. Create in us, clean hearts, to be dwelling places for the Word of Christ, so that, reflecting your goodness inwardly, we might grow to resemble you outwardly and in everything we do proclaim your coming kingdom. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon
The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven. Amen

The Great Prayer of Thanksgiving
The Lord Be With You
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Sanctus: Holy, Holy Holy, Lord,
God of Power and Might.
Heaven and Earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the Highest.
Benedictus: Blessed is he who comes
In the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
And now,
Lest we believe
That our praise alone fulfills your purpose,
We fall silent
And remember him who came
Because words weren’t enough.
Setting our wisdom,
Our will
Our words aside,
Emptying our hearts,
And bringing nothing in our hands,
We yearn for the healing,
The holding,
The accepting,
The forgiving,
Which Christ alone can offer.
(Silence)
Merciful God, send now, in kindness, your Holy Spirit to settle on this bread and wine and fill them with the fullness of Jesus. And let that same spirit rest on us, converting us from the patterns of this passing world, until we conform to the shape of him whose food we now share. Amen.

any chance we could start getting copies of manuscripts of the chapel preachers? that would be a great addition. this was a very good sermon and if people are checking out the blog and missed the service, at least they would get to read the sermon.
